Exited to EXIT

Well, a couple of weeks have passed since I have written anything and that is because nothing new (as usual) has happened.  Not wanting this to become a space where I constantly complain about this health issue or that one, I have decided to try to keep it light. My family and friends hear enough about it as it is! I will provide a small update though and then move on.

Besides my blood glucose levels returning to NORMAL with the help of a medication designed to help slowly reverse the effects of the tumor (YAY! aka no longer considered having Type 2 Diabetes!), everything is pretty much the same.  My hormones are still essentially out of control, wreaking havoc on my poor body in ways you could only imagine.  I'm experiencing a lot of hair loss now which is scary and side effects from medication are both debilitating and unsightly.  I have weekly blood draws, scans and tests and appointments with specialists, which aside from me not physically being able to work due to still-healing pelvis fractures and overall sickness, also make it necessary for me to be south so I can easily attend these important appointment and get the necessary tests in order to continue in my treatment. I am finally meeting with my new kidney doctor tomorrow to hopefully set a date to remove the stent that is in my left ureter and the large kidney stone that once blocked it and now rests peacefully in my bladder (along with its 4 other brothers and sisters).  I am still in the market for a neurosurgeon to perform the all curing tumor removal surgery and I hope to have one by May 2nd, my next Endocrinologist check-up appointment!

Okay enough about that. I am pleased to announce that I will be travelling back to Wemindji with my sister Eryl next week for a very short visit to collect my things and summer tires.  Most of you initially thought I was crazy to go back but I seriously, seriously need my spring/summer clothes (of which there are many), my summer tires (no way am I buying new ones!) and various other personal items (all my bras).  Sitting in my car isn't too painful thanks to some very comfy seats and I am grateful to have my sister coming with me for company, adventure and to ensure I don't die somehow on the way there and back.  I am putting a lot of pressure on her to keep me alive basically, I think shes a good man for the job! I am so excited to see my friends and co-workers and hopefully attend the Grand Opening ceremony for the new school! I do not expect this trip to be easy or pain-free but I am taking precautions to hopefully help myself make it without resorting to taking major pain killers (for now I am solely on a steady regimen of extra-strength Tylenol, down from daily slow release Dilaudid and as-needed supporting opiates, hooray!)  Anyways, I am very pleased to be collecting my summer clothes as the weather down here in Oakville has been gorgeous and I am eager to put some cooler outfits into my rotation of 3 lol.

Besides resting, healing, attending various appointments, seeing family and friends, I have delved deep into the world of novelty embroidery.  Nowhere near an expert, I am relying on my basic learned skills from a few classes I participated in back in high school.  I remembered a few essential stitches which helped me to create some cute pieces and kept my hands busy while I watched literally everything on Netflix!!

I am also very lucky to have finally met Clair's new baby, Sophie!! She is tiny and adorable and I had a BLAST shopping for little tiny baby girl clothes for her!!

So, I am excited for my appointment tomorrow with the kidney doctor and hope I can get that ball rolling ASAP and cross that ordeal off my long list of things to be healed from!!! Catcha on the flipside!

More About Me!!!!!!

Well, not much has happened this past week to really write about but I am trying to keep myself busy with one thing or another!! I have managed to see a lot of family recently which is really great and I am trying to take full advantage of visits and time with them. This weekend I had a great sushi date with friends Carmen and Shelby which was so nice!! It's great to see old friends and catch up, especially over delicious sushi! I am working hard on recovering my pelvis fractures and doing the necessary physio to get in top shape so I can start getting active! Oakville is host to many great amenities and resources so I want to take full advantage of the gym and pool and things that can fill my day while I recover and heal.  I want to pick up a hobby while I wait for a course I want to take to start and I have decided to start cross stitching.  I learned how to cross stitch in high school and I really liked it and since I don't have great use of my index finger on my right hand and I am not very coordinated (for something like knitting or crochet), one-handed cross stitch sounds like it could work!

I finally have a important first appointment with my new endocrinologist this week and I am very excited to get this ball rolling again in Ontario and get a plan in place.  I have a lot of anxiety over the fact that things have really stalled and it takes forever for specialists to book appointments and there is nothing I want more than to have these surgeries and get healed and start a true recovery so I can get back to a normal life! So fingers crossed I have a positive and productive meeting with this new doctor and I can start planning for the next few months and start to feel better.

It sounds funny, especially given my current physical state, but I have always wanted to run some sort of marathon or half marathon.

My mom! Shes resilient, strong and supportive.

I love the beach, more specifically - sleeping at the beach hahaha.

It would be a horror film and Sean Bean would play me because he dies in every role he plays LOL

9. If you could be any flavor of ice cream what ice cream flavor would you be and why?

I'd be Rocky Road for obvious reasons but I hope to become plain old vanilla soon! Drama free!!

I have always identified with Lisa Simpson, she questions everything and is a skeptic.  I love that. 

11. If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?

I would go to the UK again and see more, do more.  Definitely Ireland, I want to see more of the places my family is from!

I have my dream job :)

Afternoon person?

I don't have a hobby but I think I will flourish with my own style of cross stitch ;)

Kangaroo salami.  It was pretty good, but purple!

Everyone in my family has the same incredible quality, they are all wiling to drop everything and help each other no matter what.  That's something I have needed often and I hope that I can do the same for them when they need it.

I always thought it would be cool to skydive but now that I have the bones similar to petrified wood, I have crossed that off my list.  I think driving across the country would be really fun.

I spent 19 hours in my car driving from Wemindji to Oakville.

I LOVE COSTUMES but my favorite recently has probably been the skunk I was this year.  So sweaty though.

It is my dream to teach Kindergarten because I love the little kids and the satisfaction I get from teaching core skills is very rewarding.

People who wear whatever they can to look as ugly as possible.  Wearing the most obscure, weird and ugly things.  I'll never get it.

I wouldn't need to, there are enough of those hanging around already.

I failed a course in university because I missed the bus and therefore missed the final exam.  That was awesome!

My humor? Well I like it anyways but I know I am not everyone's cup of tea ;)

Oh my god every haircut I've had is the worst really.  The absolute worst was probably the mullet I got in my first year in Wemindji.  THE WORST.
